For a more advance version, for children who can write for them selves We are about to focus on the first of three weeks of Christmas fun at Spanish Club for Kids. This week we are making muñecos de nieve. It's a great excuse for the children to get crafty and feedback I get from parents and children alike is they don't get enough of it in school time. I've noticed that during the craft they often pay better attention and learn vocabulary, ask sensible questions and focus better than at any other time in the lesson. Today we learned about El Tiempo. We sang the song Oigo El Trueno (I Hear Thunder). But repetition really helps when learning a 2nd (or 3rd) language. Here is a great method for learning Spanish while encouraging recognition of mathematical patterns. It works with any vocabulary too!
You spot the pattern and work out which word or symbol goes at the end. The repetition of language worked really well: we read it together as a group​; then I went around the table and helped them read it individually; then finally we all read it out aloud.
Finally we made a cloud mobile, inspired by this link. Sometimes I suggest a craft and it's leapt upon; other times my suggestion is a jumping off point for different craft ideas. Maybe the craft resources suggest themselves in different ways. So today we ended up with 3 cloud mobiles, one fairy and one flower. It's all good as you can encourage lots of vocab by being flexible!

​I love the song Cinco Calabazas! It was such a favourite at the nurseries that I started singing it in October last year and it has been requested every week since!

I have made Halloween flashcards to use. The great thing about making these flashcards on Powerpoint is they can be printed out almost any size using your Print Settings ​ as shown below. You can print them as Full Page Slides and use them like posters or 4/6 slides Vertical/Horizontal and laminate  them to make flash cards. As posters you can play the game where children run to the right picture when they hear the word, or if you don't have the space play Snap or Slam!
